CANCELLATIONS
Scheduling is often a delicate matter requiring logistical co-ordination, so please understand that your time-slot is your reserved time-slot. If you need to cancel a lesson, PLEASE GIVE AS MUCH NOTICE AS POSSIBLE! It is our goal to provide quality music education on a weekly basis, where students can achieve their full potential. When cancellations arise, we endeavour to make up the missed time in order to offer the full value of the monthly tuition. Each cancellation given with enough notice merits a make-up lesson that will be defined by one of the following categories:
OBLIGATORY MAKE-UP LESSON
In order to fulfill the value of the monthly tuition, students whose lessons fall on a statutory holiday closure (Mondays and Saturdays) will have first choice in picking a time for make up lesson. The last Friday of every month will be set aside for make-up lessons. There will be TEN opportunities within the school year to make up the FIVE missed lessons due to statutory holiday closures
Teacher sickness: in the event that a suitable supply teacher is not available, a make-up lesson will be scheduled
COURTESY MAKE-UP LESSON For cancellations such as:
Any cancellation with less than 24 hrs notice
School events/concerts/field trips
Sporting games, tournaments/extracurricular event
Vacation that does not fall on stat/school holiday
Parent sickness
Student sickness - due to the nature of private lessons, we ask that students with contagious illness stay home and make-up lesson will be scheduled
For cancellations that fall under this category, make-up lesson will only be provided within the month if space becomes available
NO-SHOWS DO NOT QUALIFY FOR A MAKE UP LESSON. Three (3) “No-Shows” within a school year will result in termination of your tuition payments effective the following month as well as the forfeiting of your time slot.
Scheduling Make-Up Lesson: If no openings become available to schedule a make-up lesson within the month, the last Friday of every month will be set aside for make-up lessons. First pick will be given to students whose lesson time falls on a statutory holiday closure (Mondays and Saturdays), there will be TEN opportunities within the school year to make up the FIVE missed lessons due to statutory holiday closure. Please make an effort to make up cancelled lessons. Consistent lessons contribute greatly to progress at one's instrument.
What if my teacher is sick? Our first goal will be to replace the teacher with a suitable supply teacher. If a qualified and experienced teacher is not available, you will be credited a “OBLIGATORY MAKE-UP LESSON”
This policy ensures a two-way commitment:
The commitment to showing up and participating in the scheduled lessons, fully benefitting from quality lessons on a regular basis
Our commitment to hold your spot for you and provide the best quality of music education
